Next Steps for Newly Certified Referees: What You Need to Know!

Welcome to the officiating community! Whether you’re a new ref or a supportive parent, visit our state referee website for all the tools you need to get started.

Whatcom County Specific Steps

If you want to referee in Whatcom County, follow the steps below to get started.

WA State Referee Registration

Complete the certification requirements and register with the statewide association first. You can find more information about that here. This will allow your certification to be updated in Arbiter, the assigning platform we use.

Contact Assignor

Email our assignor, LaLannia Armstrong, to introduce yourself and to express interest in refereeing games in Whatcom County. You can contact LaLannia at wcsraassignor@gmail.com. LaLannia will send you a link to register for Arbiter, our assigning platform.

Set Up Payment

Make sure you properly register your Arbiter account and link a bank account for payment. All of our payments are processed through Arbiter so it is important this information is correct. If you need help setting this up, please review this information.

Look Out For Games to Self-Assign

Most new referees will start with recreational games to get a feel for how things work. These are typically released for self-assignment. Keep an eye out for notices that the games are posted and select games you want to work.
